An Unexpected Guest

Well, there’s exciting! It appears my fame knows no limits. As is right and proper. Although probably best to draw a veil over being famed as “the slightly mental broken Bernese”. Because that’s just rude. But hey, any publicity, as they say!

Anyway, I’m getting ahead of myself. How have I become aware of my burgeoning reputation? I hear you ask, dear reader. Well, here’s the thing.

Pub Dog

Pub selfie! (Focus courtesy of BEER)

Apparently I am an Anxious Dog. Personally I prefer to think of it as natural prudence, but whatever, They insist that I have “Issues”. They actually say it like that – capital I, scare quotes, ominous tone, the whole thing.

Weirdos.

Upside, though, is that I have been going to The Pub quite a lot. This is supposed to help, although I’m not convinced it’s anything other than an excuse. Also, I got to spend some more time with Julie (Thinking Paws) which is always good.

So, herewith a few pics to commemorate some recent trips to … The Pub.

Oooh. Oooh. Oooooooooooh,

Life has been OK recently. They’ve stopped shoving stinky pills down my throat all the time, which is nice. My nose is all snuffly again, which isn’t as good. I’m sure the two aren’t related. The other day I finally succeeded in stealing Her knitting, which was most entertaining. And I keep hearing mention that I am, and I quote, “slowly becoming more civilised”. Flippin’ cheek. I am the epitome of civilisation.

This weekend, however, is set to be epic. Or as that fake grumpy one on Strictly[1] would say EH. PICK (dahling).

On Saturday I get to see my friend Julie from Thinking Paws. She is going to make me perfect, I’m told. And then on Sunday I get to do my very own shoot with The Dog Photographer (or Del, as I prefer to call him, preparatory to a good lick and bark). He’s been in a magazine and everything, so he must be good.

So go me! A weekend that really is all about me. Me! Me me me me me me me me me me me meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! (Not sure how this differs from any other weekend, Ed.)

[1]Did I not mention that I watch Strictly? Well I do. So there. Although last week it was a bit scary and I had to hide behind the curtains.

There are many good things in life. People; other dogs; cats; walks; toys; food; barking; sleeping; car trips; The Vet; eating poo … the list is almost endless. Sometimes, though you get to take two or more good things and put them together!

On gardening

What are you insinuating?

What are you insinuating?

I like gardening. Unfortunately They don’t seem to do a great deal of it, although I have heard mutterings about “when I used to be able to garden, before the flipping dog” from time to time. So it’s probably a good thing I like gardening, because it means I can help. Which is nice. Always good to put a little bit back.

I try to do a little bit of helping most times I go outside. There are always leaves to clear up, stones that need moving (and occasionally disappearing), and frequent side-projects. A recent success was the removal of a whole line of bamboo canes from around the pond. I only had to uproot six or seven, and chew off another pawful before they got the message and removed the rest for me. Everything is now much more attractive with some large flower pots weighting down the net. And it sags a bit more, so I can drink out of the pond again. Result.
